Good morning…
At church this week, I stopped in the hall and talked a while with our Director of Student Ministries. I told him that I had heard he had done a really good job supporting the students who came to youth group on Sunday night. The night before, one of our own, sixteen year old Benji Reiser had been killed in a motorcycle accident. (His obituary shares the vibrancy of a life tragically cut short.)
A longtime friend wrote, “Sue, I know it has been a really hard week for so many. My sixteen year old niece knew Benji socially. She was shocked and thankfully the youth ministers were very supportive of the students on Sunday night. Life is so fragile as we are constantly reminded.”
Please be in prayer this week for Benji’s family and his many close friends as they prepare for the unspeakable, hosting a celebration of his life at 2:00 pm on Sunday in our Northside Church sanctuary.
In my short life, I have seen everything. I have seen good people die young, and I have seen evil people live long lives (Ecclesiastes 7:15, ERV). It’s impossible to make sense of it all.
Lord, it doesn’t make sense, but please help us make meaning, weaving a web of loving support for those mourning Benji.
…Sue…
