Good morning…
In an email entitled “Memories,” I received encouragement from Judy Wise, a close friend of my parents who must also be in her late 80’s. I don’t think I have seen Judy since our wedding day in 1987, but she reads our daily blog diligently from her home in North Carolina.
After a week of us processing posts about change and the mysterious metamorphosis of a butterfly, Judy wrote, “Your recent posts made me think about one of my treasures.” She shared a photo of Scared To Soar? I wrote this book with artist Lannie Lambert, and we produced it through Northside Church in 2010.
A lot has happened since 2010. With the passing of fifteen years, our four kids have grown, graduated, and become adults, with our youngest son moving out on November 1st, our oldest son enjoying his second year of marriage, and our two middle daughters creatively composing their daily lives. Some friendships have blossomed, others have faded. Health scares have happened. A global pandemic, multiple wars, and natural disasters have altered the landscape of life for many. Beloved people and pets have passed away. New babies have been born to our friends and our extended family. We have moved homes, traveled regularly, and my husband, Steve, has taken on a new role at work, leading adult trips to cool places around the globe.
We have faced fun and frightening moments, changes and challenges, and I have revisited this treasured book periodically along life’s way.
For you, what personal memories are treasured, as we experience the reading of this book right now?
