Good morning…

This week, two friends are heading into surgery. They will step through the anxious uncertainty to arrive on the other side ready to heal into wholeness. Right away, God’s healing power will be actively at work.

Hang on to that thread.

This week, two of my dear friends will be going through divorce mediation. The dream life they each envisioned is unexpectedly unraveling. When unraveling occurs, our thread of truth is exposed: “I can’t do this on my own, Lord. I need your power to grow strong in my vulnerable weakness.”

Hang on to that thread.

This week, another friend will lay her mother to final rest. She said, “Our family has had a quiet peace last week because we knew, knew, knew, to our core, that she had been welcomed into heaven and into Jesus’s open arms. Knowing that she’s no longer suffering and knowing exactly where she is has buoyed us in amazing ways.”

So Jesus and his disciples got up and went with him. Just then a woman who had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding came up behind him. She touched the fringe of his robe, for she thought, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.”

Jesus turned around, and when he saw her he said, “Daughter, be encouraged! Your faith has made you well.” And the woman was healed at that moment (Matthew 9:19-22).

Hang on to that thread.

In each of these instances, the healing power of Jesus is the thread to hang onto.

This week, an encouraging image was texted into my phone.

Hanging onto the thread coming from the hem of Jesus, we experience more peace and less desperation. Staying connected to the Good Shepherd, we are given the healing power we need. Instead of clinging to what we thought our life was supposed to look like, we hold onto the thread of God’s healing plan.

Healed wholeness is more about Him and less about us.

Hang on to that thread.
