Kay

Good morning…

When my sister Cathy came to Atlanta to hear Kay Warren speak a few weeks ago, she was concerned that her twelve year old dog Libby might not make it through the weekend. Then this week, on Tuesday, these words appeared in our extended family’s group text: “Libby passed away this morning 😢”

“Oh, I am so sorry, Cathy,” I texted immediately. “I am so grateful she waited for you to get home from Atlanta. Send some of your favorite pictures of her when you get a free moment. So sweet to honor her loving life.”

“Too soon,” came her reply.

Then yesterday, Thursday, she texted again. “Sorry…it just took me a minute to get over the reality of losing her, but here are some of my favorite pictures of Libby. She was a good dog. Coco and I miss her a lot.”

“Good morning,” I replied. “How precious. What a fun, loving companion. This picture is my favorite. Such sweet bonding. No wonder Libby is missed so much on earth as she is playing with Jesus and our Tate in heaven.😢”

I always say that seeing pictures helps me when I pray. I pray deeply for my sister, for their dog Coco, and for the whole family as they grieve the loss of Libby.

Brothers and sisters, we want you to be fully informed about those who have fallen asleep in death so that you will not be overwhelmed with grief like those who live outside of the true hope. Here’s what we believe: since Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, God will bring with Jesus all who have died through Him (1 Thessalonians 4:12-14, VOICE).

I truly believe God’s eternal promise is extended to our dogs.
