Good morning…

On Mother’s Day morning, I received this photo, one of my favorites of all time. It’s the mother-son dance at Kyler’s wedding nearly four years ago. Now our first born son will soon have his first born son, what a regenerative gift from God.

“Happy Mother’s Day!” his wife Chandler texted me on Sunday. “Love this photo – it totally captures your radiant, free, and joyful spirit! I hit the jackpot in the MIL department and baby Allen is so lucky to have you as his sue sue (hopefully soon😅)! 🤍”

I went to bed last night with Chandler sending me another picture, a picture of their cozy, completed nursery awaiting it’s newborn babe.

“Your nursery looks so quiet and peaceful,” I replied. “Soon it will be filled with the sights, sounds, and smells of new life!”

Now, up in the middle of the night, I check my phone, and at 2:14 am, Kyler’s text came in: “At the hospital. Pray for us. Chandler is doing amazing.”

“Awesome!” I replied. “I am up praying for you, Chandler and our baby boy. I trust that all will go well and that we will be in touch throughout the day. Please call if you want to talk. I’m up!”

So, the long awaited plan is set in motion. Chandler will labor as long as it takes (my labor with Kyler lasted twenty-four hours), and she’ll give birth to our first grandchild when the perfect moment arrives. While they have their first hour of private, skin-to-skin bonding as a family, Steve and I along with our other three kids will drive to the hospital to meet our new arrival in the receiving room in Athens, Georgia.

What joy! Our first baby boy is having his first baby boy.

Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother’s womb. I thank you, High God—you’re breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvelously made! I worship in adoration—what a creation! You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something. Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I’d even lived one day (Psalm 139:13-16, MSG).

Please join us in prayer for a safe delivery for Chandler and sweet baby boy Allen.
