Good morning…
This image of a homeless person resting on a bench lives in the foyer of the Ignatius House Retreat Center. The humble figure draws my attention every time I enter the sacred space.
Arriving on the gorgeous grounds yesterday around 5:30 pm, I found that the doors were locked to the library where I usually place our welcome bags for the women who attend the Ignatian Spirituality Project (ISP) retreats. Filled full with nurturing goodies, our welcome bags will greet the women as they enter their individual rooms for today’s overnight retreat. Instead of in the library, it felt right to lay our bags and our homemade breads on the bench beneath the image of the homeless person resting.
Thirteen women recovering from homelessness and addiction, who live in residential treatment centers across Atlanta, will be picked up at the MARTA station this morning and transported to Ignatius House by volunteers. These courageous women will be given a life-changing opportunity to meet God in brand new ways. Please join me in praying for the deep healing of wounded hearts.
God’s the one who rebuilds… He heals the heartbroken and bandages their wounds (Psalm 147:2, MSG). May it be so today and tomorrow on the holy grounds of Ignatius House Retreat Center.

P.S. These ISP retreats occur quarterly for recovering women and quarterly for recovering men. Ignatian Spirituality Project is an international organization, and Ignatius House Retreat Center is the only location in Georgia which offers these unique retreats. The cost for these retreats, offered free of charge to the participants, are supported by donations from our community.
