Good morning…
In yesterday’s post, I shared this gorgeous photo sent earlier in the week by a friend, a picture of the crescent moon resting close to a planet in the dark of night. I finished my two hours of blogging then headed back to bed for my second sleep.
Unfortunately, I was woken up early to take my husband to the airport. Tired, groggy, and a little miffed at my interrupted sleep, we walked outside to our driveway to get in the car. Before I settled into the passenger’s seat, I looked up to see this.

A new insight dawned. If I had slept until I naturally woke, the daylight would have drowned out the delicious, dark blue view. My exhaustion perked up, my cloudy mind saw more clearly, and my miffed-ness softened into gratitude.
I noticed a sweet truth. God, all the while, had been orchestrating subtle movement in the darkness as the planet inched ions away from the waning moon.
Because my tired, groggy, miff-ness was shed, I could notice new things.
- God is here.
- God is moving.
- God is at work, shedding, healing, softening us into gratitude.
Yesterday marked the three year anniversary of the violent Hamas attacks in Israel and the subsequent brutal bloodshed in Gaza. War. Hostages. Innocent lives slaughtered in all directions. Darkness. Darkness. Deep down darkness.
If God is here, moving, at work in the expanse of the sky, might the Creator of every living thing be orchestrating subtle movement in the heart of all people?
Eternal Sustainer of this universe,
help us to see,
to notice,
to sense
Your movement
inside,
between,
and all around us.
O True God, You are my God, the One whom I trust. I seek You with every fiber of my being (Psalm 63:1a, VOICE).
