Good morning…
Many were touched by the song in yesterday’s post, What Lies Ahead? A variety of people wrote to me privately in response. (Some people are facing a grueling cancer journey with loved ones, others are being reshaped by the impact of Alzheimers, and still others are facing various forms of loss, grief, pain.) As the days of carefree innocence have faded to the past, many related to the breathtaking music video, God’s ever present light guiding us through our deep valley of sorrow.
Yet sometimes it is hard to see through the dense distractions of this life. Fears. Doubts. Regrets. Insecurities. Sparkling light breaks through our thick overgrowth as this new “official music video” begins. This creative rendition shows a young girl being covered in oneness with God, as she walks through the greedy gauntlet of the world. With God as her vision, she walks forward, undeterred. Somehow the dead wood of life’s non-essentials create a big campfire we calmly set ablaze. Walking empty-handed and full-hearted into our unknown future with God, we place our bare feet on the pathway to true freedom. We are in God, God is in us. That is enough for now and forever.
Calling the crowd to join his disciples, he said, “Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You’re not in the driver’s seat; I am. Don’t run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I’ll show you how” (Mark 8:35-36, MSG). Embodying God’s guiding vision, we immerse ourselves in this unusual music video.
