Good morning…

As I walked the mile long trail around the Ignatius House Retreat Center, I noticed the restorative beauty of the fallen trees. Though the keepers of the sacred grounds clear the rugged paths, they allow the decaying debris to naturally rest on the fertile forest floor. Like meandering through a mysterious museum, I marveled at the new life rising from the wreckage.

The whole earth sprouts newness and life… and green shoots break through the well-seeded garden soil. That’s what it is like with the Eternal’s victory— the Lord will cause justice and praise to sprout up before all the nations, for all peoples to see (Isaiah 61:11, VOICE).

What starts out in one form naturally morphs into another. As we walk the rugged path of life, how do you see the same “life – through death – to new life” dynamic playing out in your life right now?

It is the Lord who causes newness and life to rise up from the wreckage. Thanks be to God.
