Good morning…

To begin our monthly phone call, I was drawn to share these words:

“Now if God can take a tiny seed and, in the process of giving it his life, endow it with a knowledge of what is supposed to be; if he can give it the purpose and strength and fruitfulness to not only accomplish it all, but to perpetuate itself as well; and if he can give it an inner calendar to tell it when all of this is supposed to be done, why is it so hard to believe he has done the same for our hearts?

Since he has done this for the tomatoes and thistles and beans and dandelions, it shouldn’t stretch our credibility so much to believe that his image is in us, the image inherent in the life he gives to each of us, is calling us to be.

The trick is to hear the voice, to believe it, and to trust it.” – See You at the House by Bob Benson

A quirky thought just blossomed on my branch. If I were to create a bumpersticker for this week, it would read: “Say less. Be more.”

Walk into the fields and look at the wildflowers. They don’t fuss with their appearance—but have you ever seen color and design quite like it? The ten best-dressed men and women in the country look shabby alongside them. If God gives such attention to the wildflowers, most of them never even seen, don’t you think he’ll attend to you, take pride in you, do his best for you? What I’m trying to do here is get you to relax, not be so preoccupied with getting so you can respond to God’s giving (Luke 12:26-29, MSG).

Hear God’s voice. Believe God’s voice. Trust God’s voice: “Say less. Be more.”
