Good morning…

“Sunsets give me joy,” texted a friend, including the picture above. “I know you enjoy them too.”

“This photo is fantastic,” I replied. “Might I share it on our blog? Remind me again the name of the beach where you are nestled.”

“Of course you can share the photo,” she responded. “Sunsets are God’s gifts to all of us. This is the beach in Naples, Florida. It’s still recovering from hurricane Ian. The sunrises and sunsets each day are reminders that God is good, gracious, and still in control during times of recovery and rebuilding.”

“This photo is from Sanibel beach,” she continued, “just for you to see that the Ian recovery is far from over in some areas.”

“Oh gosh,” I texted back. “The sweet and the bitter. Both hold hands each day. This picture is a good reminder that our full recovery as the redeemed people of God is far from over.”

“Well said, Sue,” she affirmed. “God is speaking to us in surround sound. Here is a verse in one of my devotionals today: Make known to us the path of life; fill us with joy in your presence. – Psalm 16:11.”

As we grow increasingly aware of God’s ever presence, our inner scale gently tips toward joy, and the Spirit gradually makes known to us the path of life.
