light

Good morning…

Last week, I posted a poem shared by a friend from our Friday morning class.

******

some types of sadness by Cleo Wade

some
types of sadness

appear and vanish
a quick hello & goodbye

some
types of sadness

linger like a moon
cycling through its phases
in your being

full
half
a sliver
barely there
but there

do not lose hope
for on the darkest night
the lightless moon
is also
the new moon

something is on the way

Soon after I pushed send on our blog post, a return text came from a friend in California.

“Good morning, Sue,” she wrote. “I loved your post today and the poem. This is the book it comes from that I keep on my bedside table. I read from it almost daily. It is beautiful.”

Never before had I heard of this poet or known of this book. Have you?

My Atlanta friend had shared one simple poem which had been shared with her. I, in turn, shared it with you, which connected me to the book on a California bedside table.

“I love that you know and adore this writer,” I replied. “Can you share with me a photo of another poem you love most from the book?”

Soon after, three short poems came bubbling back to me. Might we sip together on these words right now?

With tender words for these trying times, we are watered by the living Spirit of our loving God. When the moment is right, we soften to say, “I’m sorry.” Humbled, we are grateful to raise our gaze, connecting to the people who believe in us. Our God-given constellation illuminates everything.

“Arise [from spiritual depression to a new life], shine [be radiant with the glory and brilliance of the Lord]; for your light has come, And the glory and brilliance of the Lord has risen upon you” (Isaiah 60:1, AMP).

Like stream of living water, God’s endless light pours into and through us each day and each night.
