Good morning…
What a privilege it is to be the Women’s Ministry Director at Northside Church here in Atlanta. Since January of 2008, our Program Coordinator and I have been a well-balanced team seeking to connect women in our community to the power of our multi-faceted God. Every August, we announce our new classes for the fall semester. Today is that day, 2021.
I am so excited to share that, after eighteen months away from our living room learning due to COVID concerns, I will be teaching again in our Vinings home. With hospitalization numbers currently rising in Georgia, we have decided to make two changes to my at-home classes. First, better protecting us against any viral spread, I will be hosting our groups outside beneath the ceiling fans of our back porch (see photo above). And second, I will be limiting the classes I teach to twelve women per class.
If you live outside of Atlanta, you are out of town frequently, or you have a schedule incompatible with our weekly class times, I encourage you to prayerfully consider being guided by God – alone or in your own small group – through the book we are studying, Sacred Rhythms: Arranging Our Lives For Spiritual Transformation by Ruth Haley Barton.
In this unpredictable season, it is important to anchor ourselves in the sacred rhythms of God, who was, and is, and constantly will be our only Source of solid stability. As we arrange our lives around the seven sturdy pillars of our life of faith, we give ourselves space and time to notice our Creator deeply at work, gradually transforming our innermost being. For those who are interested in following along, I will share our semester’s syllabus with our written word community and will post periodically about the lessons we are learning from this soulful book.
Through other gifted teaching teams in our Women’s Ministry, we offer a rich handful of additional weekly classes which meet at the church, some in the morning and some in the evening, most in-person with one hybrid class offering a Zoom option. In addition, I will co-host a monthly book study at the home of a wise, passionate friend for women interested in exploring God’s invitation into real racial reconciliation for all.
So at your leisure, please browse our class descriptions and register here, adding your name to our rosters as the Spirit leads.
They were continually filled with praises to God, enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord kept adding to their number daily those who were coming to life (Acts 2:47, TPT).
