Good morning…
Soon after she read yesterday’s post She Died Unexpectedly, a close friend texted me the encouraging prayer pictured above.
“Here’s another way to put it: You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand—shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16, MSG).
A few moments later, I received a comforting email from a regular SueToYou reader in Florida.
“Good morning, Sue – what a terrible tragedy, just unimaginable. I’m sharing a poem from the Mass card from my Irish grandfather’s funeral in hopes it bring you and this grieving family even a brief moment of comfort. I will keep praying. The veil between heaven and earth is thin. Xo.”

He is the Father of compassion, the God of all comfort. He consoles us as we endure the pain and hardship of life so that we may draw from His comfort and share it with others in their own struggles (2 Corinthians 1:3b-4, VOICE).
When we are saddened by what’s happening around us, might God show each one of us how to bring hope, peace and encouragement to this broken world?
…Sue…
