thread

Good morning…

When I shared this image in yesterday’s blog post, a friend responded, “I love this reframing of hanging on by a thread!”

“I’m reminded of William Stafford’s poem The Way It Is,” she continued. “What a reassurance to know there is a God and a power for us we can hold onto and never let go.”

While we hold on to God’s powerful presence, we can’t get lost. Tragedies happen. People get hurt or die. We all suffer and get old. Nothing we can do can stop the unfolding of time. At the same time, we don’t ever, no never, let go of the healing thread of God’s healing presence.

Before expanding from earth into heaven, Jesus said, “And I will be with you, day after day, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:20b, VOICE).

Whatever today holds, we follow the thread that goes among things that change, but God’s powerful presence never changes.

That’s just the way it is, day after day, to the end of the age.
