Good morning…
For months and months, I have diligently prayed for my lifetime friend in Norway. Just now, we are exchanging emails in the middle of this dark night.
She wrote yesterday.
“Thanks for keeping me so close!
The summary from today’s consultation is that the current treatment does not work anymore. The oncologist suggests alternative chemo, maybe in August. She says my body, especially the bone marrow, needs rest. I agree totally!
So now I will try enjoying the summer as best I can. There is no treatment that will cure this cancer, but hopefully it will give me some extra days.
Harald and I have wonderful people around us. I am so grateful for that. Still, the journey ahead of me is one I have to walk alone even with loving family and friends being there for me.
Strangely I am not so afraid any more!
Love, Margit”
I respond right now.
“Good morning, Margit…
I love your last sentence: “Strangely I am not so afraid any more!”
I trust that your inner strength and peace of mind is a byproduct of all of the prayers we are lifting on your behalf. I am grateful you are surrounded by family and friends who love you so deeply, as you walk the lonely road ahead.
Resting your body and blood. Enjoying the summer as best you can. Hoping for extra days. This approach to daily life sounds like the perfect focus for this special season.
I am still wondering, “Might a visit from me be possible?”
I love you, Sue”
Writing and responding, any time of day or night, is the best gift we can give our loved ones who live miles away.
Do not let gracious love and truth leave you. Bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart (Proverbs 3:3, ISV).
…Sue…
