moon

Good morning…

I have been looking forward to this full moon for a while now. With God, it has been in the planning stages since the beginning of time. While talking with my parents in Ohio yesterday, together we sang over the phone the familiar lullaby.

I see the moon

the moon sees me,

the moon sees somebody

I want to see.

So God bless the moon

and God bless me,

and God bless the somebody

I want to see.

Then last night we each experienced the Harvest Moon, the full moon closest to the autumn equinox. Bright. Beautiful. Bountiful. The first “supermoon” of the year rose above us all, as the moon was at its closest point to Earth during its orbit, appearing up to 30% brighter and 14% larger than when at its furthest point. Visiting with this powerful ball of light a little after 9:00 pm, the moon was magical, mesmerizing, truly magnificent.

Later, just after midnight, I took another gaze. Jagged obstacles and thick clouds obscured my view, like dense layers of human discord seek to obscure God’s guiding presence.

Lord, please melt our dark defenses and shine your light through all our pain.

See truly; look carefully—darkness blankets the earth;
    people all over are cloaked in darkness.
But God will rise and shine on you;
    the Eternal’s bright glory will shine on you, a light for all to see.
Nations north and south, peoples east and west, will be drawn to your light,
    will find purpose and direction by your light.
In the radiance of your rising, you will enlighten the leaders of nations (Isaiah 60:2-3, VOICE).

In the ripe fullness of time, the zeal of God Almighty will spark radiance. Purpose, direction, enlightenment will rise and shine through us.

Creator of us all, may it be so.
